Theatre-in-Education for Teachers

Transform your teaching with the power of drama and theatre techniques. Make learning more participatory, creative, meaningful and enjoyable.

Whatever be the subject, using drama in the classroom makes the teaching-learning process more participatory, creative, meaningful and enjoyable than the conventional 'chalk and talk' methods. Phoenix Theatre-In-Education Company designs and facilitates Teacher's Training Workshops for all the teachers at all levels of the spectrum.

Know Thyself

Try to find who you really are and make more of your abilities. These workshops are intended to equip teachers with the skills necessary for applying theatre techniques to their subject matter and to understand their "Self", as before being a teacher you are what you are as an individual and that depends on your nature and nurturing, your training and your experiences.

That "Self" plays a vital role in your profession:

Who am I? What am I doing? How am I doing it? How am I as a teacher?
How am I doing with a particular group of students? How am I with one-to-one in terms of student–teacher relationship?
How am I as an effective leader? How am I as a team member? How are my inter-personal relationships?
How do I conduct my class and what is my mode? How do I gain and sustain the attention of my students?
How effectively am I executing my lessons plans? How do I deal with issues in the classroom?
How do I adapt my teaching methods to different learning styles and maintain continuous professional growth?
Phoenix Theatre-In-Education Company

Undertakes workshops to explore these areas with teachers through comprehensive training programs.

About Theatre-In-Education

While theatre is a distinct and separate art form, Theatre-In-Education harnesses its potential exclusively for educational purposes. It is simply the means to making learning and teaching experiential, more fun, practical and interactive. The role of Theatre-In-education or T.I.E. process has been widely acknowledged, but rarely if ever, understood.

The confluence of Theatre with Education has given rise to a unique art form T.I.E, which harnesses the innate powers of Theatre to catalyze the process of teaching and of learning, in order to make education more relevant, impactful, lively and entertaining for both- the teacher as well as the learner.

Drama is a subject that schools find valuable in addressing the educational and developmental needs. Using drama/theatre in the delivery of academic curricula has been found to be far more effective than conventional teaching methodologies. At the same time, opportunities for growth are enhanced noticeably when drama/theatre techniques are put to use.

As the demand for teachers qualified in this area of specialization or effective courses is greater than availability, the Phoenix Theatre-In-Education Company conducts a year long programme and several capsule workshops in schools and organizations to answer these demands.
